Renovation windows that fit over the existing frame

A renovation window replaces an old window without tearing out its frame. The sashes and hardware come out, the new frame is fixed over the old one, and a fin covers it. RS Concept, a Polish window and door supplier, delivers renovation windows made to measure in uPVC (lead time from 3 weeks) and timber (lead time from 1 month) for refurbishment contractors, developers and installers.

Supply only: installation is done by your own installer or contractor.

How a renovation window works

The old sashes, mullions and hardware are removed and the old frame stays. The new frame is fixed over it, and an inner fin covers the old frame, so walls, plaster and the façade stay largely untouched. This is standard practice in France and common in Belgium, and it suits houses, apartment blocks and historic buildings where a full strip-out is unwelcome.

The trade-off is a small loss of glass area, because the new frame sits inside the old one. Renovation frames are kept low to keep that loss small.

What we supply

  • uPVC: renovation profiles with a fin of 35 to 65 mm depending on the system (for example 40 or 65 mm on a 70 mm deep, 5-chamber system, and 35 or 60 mm on an 82 mm deep, 6-chamber system with triple seal). Lead time from 3 weeks.
  • Timber: a renovation version with a 30 mm fin, an aluminium weather cap and handle as standard, in pine, oak or meranti. Lead time from 1 month. See wooden windows from Poland.

Glazing is double or triple, with acoustic, safety or obscure options. Colours: white, solid colours and wood-grain foils on one or both sides, or a different colour inside and out. Extras include window bars, trickle vents, matching cover angles and roller-shutter options.

Who it is for

  • Refurbishment contractors and installers: short, clean swaps with fewer plaster and render repairs.
  • Developers and property managers: buildings refitted flat by flat while tenants stay in.
  • Homeowners through their installer: new windows with less dust and disruption.

We price from your window list, using the sizes your installer measures on site, and keep your item references in the quote. We can deliver in phases to match the programme. For walls with added insulation, see monoblock windows. For the overview of all products, see windows and doors from Poland.

  3. Production. After final sizes and the order are confirmed, the windows are made to measure in Poland.
  4. Delivery. We arrange transport to your site; the date is agreed before dispatch.

Supply only: installation is done by your own installer or contractor.

No. Only the sashes, mullions and hardware come out. The new frame is fixed over the old one, and the fin covers it from the inside.

Will I lose glass area?

A little, because the new frame sits inside the old one. Renovation frames are deliberately low to keep that loss small.
