Monoblock windows for walls with external insulation

A monoblock window is a window with a deep, insulated frame unit that is fixed in the insulation layer of the wall instead of in the masonry opening. RS Concept, a Polish window and door supplier, delivers monoblock windows in uPVC and timber made to your drawings, with frame depths that match the thickness of your insulation. Lead time is from 3 weeks for uPVC and from 1 month for timber.

Supply only: installation is done by your own installer or contractor.

What a monoblock window is, and why it is used

In a wall with external or layered insulation, a standard window sits in the masonry and leaves a cold edge where the frame meets the wall. A monoblock window moves the window out into the insulation. The frame unit is deep enough to span the insulation and comes with a sub-sill profile, which is designed to give a connection between window and insulated wall with as little thermal bridging as possible.

The result is a window that sits in the plane of the insulation, with a connection that is easier to detail well. It is a typical choice for energy-focused new builds and for refurbishments where insulation is added to the façade.

Versions we supply

  • uPVC monoblock: frame units with 5 or 6 chambers in depth variants of 129, 149 and 169 mm, or 122, 142 and 162 mm, depending on the profile system. Glazing up to 50 mm on one system and up to 60 mm on the other, with five anti-burglar latches per sash. Lead time from 3 weeks.
  • Timber monoblock: an insulated frame of 100, 120, 140 or 160 mm on a 68, 80 or 92 mm timber profile, in pine, oak or meranti. Double or triple glazing, Winkhaus fittings, a rebated drip cap, and an aluminium weather cap and handle as standard. Lead time from 1 month. See also wooden windows from Poland.

For uPVC, the largest window height we list for one system is 2345 mm, with up to 2.45 m² of glazing per sash. For your sizes, we confirm what is possible in the quote.

Choosing the frame depth

The frame depth should match the thickness of the insulation layer, so tell us the thickness and the position of the window in the wall. We propose the depth variant that fits your build-up and state the technical data for your configuration. Colours, glazing, opening types and trickle vents are chosen as for any other window: uPVC in white or foiled colours and wood-grain finishes, timber in transparent stains, lazur or RAL colours.

For developers, contractors and installers

Monoblock windows are most often ordered for projects: terraced houses, apartment buildings and façade refurbishments. We quote from your full window schedule, keep your item numbers and can deliver in phases to match the build programme. Installers receive supply only and fix the windows themselves, ideally after taking the final measurements on site. If the window is to replace an old one inside the existing opening instead, see renovation windows. For the overview of all products, see windows and doors from Poland.

Which frame depth do I need?

It should match the insulation thickness. uPVC variants run from 122 to 169 mm and timber from 100 to 160 mm. Tell us the thickness, and we propose the right depth.

How long does delivery take?
